Latest Crime Update This is a Community Watch broadcast from the Northamptonshire Police Western Area Wednesday, 24 January 2007 There are a number of incidents of note to report today. In Arthingworth in the North of the county, offenders removed a full double glazed window pane from a conservatory before entering a house and stealing property including a set of car keys and the corresponding vehicle a Blue Subaru Legacy, registration VO04VRD. Residents in Woodend, Towcester are asked to recall any suspicious circumstances in the village on Tuesday. Between approximately 3 and 5pm, offenders kicked the front door to a house in Main street open. They proceeded to steal a handbag and large flat panel Television from the premises before leaving the scene. These televisions are often very heavy and cumbersome, requiring significant effort to move and possibly a large vehicle. They are becoming an increasing target for thieves who can often identify them easily through windows where they hang high on a wall and are easily seen at night, instead of standing on the floor like a more traditional tube television. Security products are available, and we would request that you consider the security of your flat panel, and the ease with which yours could be identified as a target from outside the building. In addition to my broadcast earlier this week, two further churches have been broken into, in the villages of Milton Malsor and Weedon. In all of the recent church burglaries, little appears to be stolen. However, major damage is being caused to valuable stained glass windows gaining entry, making the crime even more despicable. Recipients in the area of Grange Park are asked to be on the lookout for suspicious activity around articulated lorries parked on the estate and the slip road to the A45 behind the BP Garage. The area is a hotspot for thefts from lorries and a regional operation is running to catch well organised criminals who travel to the location from across the UK to steal lorry loads. The type and volume of items stolen indicates thieves are well organised and equipped, often potentially injuring drivers while committing their crimes. Any suspicious activity around trucks should be called to us on 999 immediately.
