An alarm company is currently canvassing for sales by telephone in the South of the area.
Companies that function in this way, frequently call you unexpectedly and may claim or infer that they are working with the Police, the council or other agencies to supply free alarm systems in the area. The may also claim they are undertaking security surveys across the area.
The Police do not recommend any alarm system or manufacturer.
Where alarm firms claim to be fitting a free alarm, this may only be part of the story. For example, a free alarm system may be fitted only where costly additional options or a long-term service agreement have been entered into.
If you make an appointment with one of these firms, and no longer wish to receive their agent, you are perfectly within your right to refuse them entry to your home. If they refuse to leave from within your property or force entry call the Police on 999.
Crime reduction officers are able to offer general advice on domestic alarm systems, and what you should be looking for to help protect your property.
