Urgent massage to all horse owners across the entire beat;
A horse in Staverton has been reported to have a marking on its neck..... A black cross in waterproof paint or something similar, this is a marking from a traveller community, also a marking would be a plait in the mane, it occurs with a certain bread of horse predominate black and white horses or ponies, this would indicate a theft of that horse if these markings are put there and not seen by the owners, it identifies the horse that the travellers want...... to date no horses have been reported stolen so please be vigilant and keep it that way,
If you are at all concerned than I suggest you please call it in to the control room as the owner of the horse did in Staverton I then have put them in touch with our Crime Prevention Officer, Farm Watch and Horse watch and I advised on short term prevention....
Also.... horses have been put in random fields by the travellers, they will be black and white or all white and sometimes tethered, if you have experienced this, I advised you not to approach the people who do this as someone near Lilborne was threatened that his barns would be burnt down if he complained... not nice I know, but call that in to as we have a dedicated Wildlife Officer who needs to know this and can advise accordingly.
